the men's PILL
by Liza Sabater
BBC NEWS | UK | Scotland | Male contraceptive trial
i never thought, not in a million years, that this could ever happen in my lifetime. the pill has been a very touchy subject for me because i have never been able to use it successfully. why? it was obviously invented by men. who in their right mind would want to pump women with MORE hormones? a guy without a clue.
although i find the whole idea of hormone-tweaking appalling (whether it is for contraception or replacement after menopause), i would still love to see a whole generation of guys with mood swings, imsomnia and weight gain. wouldn't it change things if all of a sudden guys just started retaining water for no reason? or if they wanted to 'do it' but just thought it was too much work?
the question is, will guys use it? can we actually expect men to go ahead and say, "Yeah sure pump me with hormones, i want to zap my sperm". I wonder which star athlete would be paid to become the spokesperson for the new drug.
