Spongemonkeys Redux : Lyrics to We like the moon!
by Liza Sabater

spongemonkeys.png

From The Lair of the Crab of Ineffable Wisdom - a load of stuff by Joel Veitch that will probably crush your will to live came Quiznos Sub: We Love the Subs commercial spot, one of the most perversely popular memes I've seen in a long time, right up there with YETI SPORTS by chris hilgert powered by edelweiss medienwerkst.at.

I initially posted about the Spongemonkeys on c u l t u r e k i t c h e n: Let's hear it for The Spongemonkeys. It's a sidelink, not even a full post. Well, it is probably the most popular post on this site. It has 50 comments, none of them left by spammers, and my referral logs show that each day I get about 100 hits on that post alone. It's absolutely shocking. Just for a link to Joel Vitch, the guy that originated the bizarro cartoon.

Joel Veitch's animations make him the bastard child of Terry Gilliam (during his Monty Python tour of duty) and children's book writer Sandra Boynton. Veitch creates the kind of visual pandemonium that just kills me everytime I watch it. His songwriting (along with collaborator Alex Veitch), is like the dada poetry of an 5 year kid wacked out on too many chocolate frosted sugar bombs. Please, don't pass the Ritalin.

So without further ado, here's the lyrics to the hit songs of those marvel of popular culture, The Spongmonkeys:

We Like The Moon

We like the moon coz it is close to us we like the moooon! but not as much as a spoon cuz that's more use for eating soup and a fork isn't very useful for that unless it has got many vegetables and then you might be better off with a chop-stick unlike the moon it is up in the sky it's up there very high but not as high as maybe dirigibles or zeppelins or lightbulbs and maybe clouds and puffins also I think maybe they go quite high too maybe not as high as the moon coz the moon is very high we like the moon the moon is very useful for everyone everybody likes the moon because it lights up the sky at night and its lovely and it makes the tide go and we like it but not as much as cheese we really like cheese we like zeppelins we really like them and we like kelp and we like moose and we like deer and we like marmots and we like all the fluffy animals we really like the moon

We like the Subs (Lyrics to the Quizno's Ad)

WE LOVE THE SUBS! COZ THEY ARE GOOD TO US! THE QUIZNO'S SUBS, THEY ARE CRUNCHY, THEY ARE TASTY, THEY ARE WARM BECAUSE THEY TOAST THEM! THEY GOT A PEPPER BAR! EAT QUIZNO'S SUBS!

I'm glad John Edwards is Kerry's running mate. He would be a useful cause he can talk to the dead, and then Kerry can get advice from the dead prezidents

Spongemonkeys for president. I don't think they could get us in quite as much trouble as we are even if they tried with four years in term. :D

I think John Edwards should talk to Abe Lincoln because then we could solve the mystery of wooden teeth, or was that George Washington? Who told or did not tell lies, It was one of them, I think. Are spongemonkeys supposed to be crippled because their legs look bunched, I think it's good if they are crippled because that proves anti-descrimination laws...correct. I just confused the hell out of myself.

C'mon baby, don't be shy
