What I missed this week
by Liza Sabater

So Nichelle, didn't go to the Magnum party either. I was too tired and hung-over from the night before. I'm like LUSTY LADY, can't say no to free food and especially to free-flowing champagne, vodka and assorted libations paid for by someone else. So I imbibed more than some and then some more with artists friends at what's-that-place on Union Square.

Thursday was a muther for me. I wonder how it went.

I have certainly kicked myself for missing The WYSIWYG Talent Show. I should have gone to that FIRST (because I live 4 blocks away) and THEN gone to MoSex. I actually got there at about 9 pm and the door was closed shut. All sold out. Snif :(

Did not go either to the opening at bitforms, Touch and Temperature : Art in the age of cybernetic totalism because, again, when it rains it pours. During winter and most of spring had nowhere to go, Now, BOOM! Openings, shows and parties galore. The thermomether hits 60 degrees or higher and event planners go berserk.

Back to bitforms. I have one comment about the show : WTF?! C'mon Michael. AGE OF CYBERNETIC TOTALISM? Dude, most people don't know how to use all the buttons in their remote! How can you call it an age and a totalist one at that.

Anyhow, next week, I certainly don't want to miss the Ritalin Readings at Pianos (Tuesday, June 29, 2004). I'm already not going to the Mermaid parade (too far to shlep with the kidlets) and, anyhow, The Pride Parade is the only parade that I acknowledge sticking my neck out sometime during the day because :

(1) I'm a fag hag;
(2) It comes all the way downtown to the Village;
(3) I go to check out the shoes

Note to Matt : If you make sure someone yummy like Chris Noth or Viggo Mortensen attend, then I'll definitely get the energy to go ;-)

Now my Tuesday night has been freed up so I too will be at Ritalin. FYI - WYSIWYG closes their doors early, I got there right at 7:45 and snuck in and I know at the one I read at, people were turned away at 8, so just something to keep in mind for the future. I found the She Comes First party a bit overwhelmingly crowded so was happy to escape the masses.

C'mon baby, don't be shy
