Chris Lydon writes about the cosmopolitanism that Heinz-Kerry and Obama brought to the DNC
by Liza Sabater

The Blogging of the President: 2004
Barack Obama and Teresa Heinz Kerry brought something vital to the floor of FleetCenter last night, a worldview that is cosmopolitan. The "skinny kid with the funny name" and the doctor's daughter who grew up in a dictatorship brought this context to their nuanced reconstruction of the American Dream, and it made their affirmations all the more authentic. In Obama's beautiful phrase, both have the "audacity of hope," and from where I sat, both lifted us up with their vision and their passion. John Kerry, too, is sophisticated and worldly. Translating that into a powerful connection with ordinary people, as Obama and Mrs. Kerry seem able to do, will be his challenge. They are a hard act to follow.

Lydon has articulated in one paragraph what it took me in three posts to say :
c u l t u r e k i t c h e n: Blogging the Convention from Sofa-Central
c u l t u r e k i t c h e n: Bem vinda, Teresa! Nos te recebemos com bracos abertos
c u l t u r e k i t c h e n: A vote for Kerry is a vote for Teresa Heinz
