On the best non-convention moment ever and Edwards' radiance

I was looking forward to a very exhausting non-convention blogging day here in NYC, when I received an invitation to attend the Park Bar at Union Square meeting of Mr. Wonkette. Yes, people, in lieu of meeting the blogstar herself, I was delighted to meet her hot and bothered husband. Wow! That's the closest to blogstardom I'll ever get. I even got to shake his hand.
I made sure though I made it home in time for the Edwards speech ... and then I realized I had missed crazy Al's "let's ride this donkey" moment.
Oh, pooh!
Still, I was impressed with Ms. Edwards --baby got back, indeed. As the camera panned from Cate Edwards to her, the resident couch pundit and I could not but marvel at Ms. Edwards behind. Not because of her rubenesque figure but because she really is styling a ghetto-blasting, "look how fine is mine" behind. Like Britney would say, "it's a southern girl thing".
Man, does she look comfortable in front of a camera or what. Actually, that whole family is just telegenic. I wonder which of the Kerry girls is going to present dad, the one with the boobs or the one that canoodles with Ben Affleck?
That said, Edwards proves how great a vice-president he will be. Edwards radiated. He truly shined tonight :

There's something more here than dislike at Bush. Indeed, anger at Bush just isn't around. Instead, there's a beginning of a conversation about where to take the party, combined with a hopeful feeling not just that Bush can lose, but that the Democrats can win. It's like the first shoots of spring after a long winter.

Edwards, thankfully, is talking about poverty on the national stage. And not in the "get their asses to work" vein of recent years, but as a moral issue. It's such an important conversation and such stunningly correct framing that I'm posting up the whole section: "I mean the very idea that in a country of our wealth and our prosperity, we have children going to bed hungry. We have children who don't have the clothes to keep them warm. We have millions of Americans who work full-time every day for minimum wage to support their family and still live in poverty -- it's wrong.
