BTW, "Custom Blog"?
by Liza Sabater
Adrants: Gawker Media Launches Second Custom Publishing Weblog
Why a blog, and a custom blog at that, if someone not even remotely associated to the production is writing it? Should a blog be a snappy multi-line addlet instead of an amplifier of the production's heart and soul (or lack thereof)? If John Waters did not want to write the blog for A Dirty Shame, why not get people within the production to do so?
I've read the blog and it, well, it's OK. A Dirty Shame does not read like something out of the John Waters world, but like another Nick Denton production. It's like a tamer version of Defamer or Gawker.
I really don't know how Denton does it ---To get people to pay him to create a blog that is about his products and not about theirs. I swear, he's got a bridge to sell somewhere.
Nick Denton is either evil, or brilliant, or both. At least he's paying the rent --because I surely am not. My hats off to him.
