If you see all the FDNY charging to 16th and First, tell them it's just me smoking
by Liza Sabater
My stomach is a mess. Even though I knew it was not going to be easy, just seeing those numbers come in are giving me agita. I'm smoking like there's no tomorrow --and since I have to go outside my apartment to do so, you know I'm freezing my butt because I'm worried. Oh, and my stomach is a mess.
I justed switched off the major news shows and am back at Comedy Central: Indecision 2004 (which, BTW, has a hilarious election day blog going on). In the insanity of their show, I actually find the voice of reason : The only show that would not talk about polls but about all the issues, like electronic voting without paper receipts, innacurat exit polls and the mishandling of absentee ballots. The one satire show is the one that is talking, once again, about the issues.
I've had it with big media. No mention of absentee ballots. No mention of the challenges to close the polls even when people had waited in line for hours to vote.
Note to the Democratic Party:
Kerry better not conceded ANY of the battleground states.
Big Media. No matter if it is FOX or CBS, they are all not interested in the accuracy of their numbers. They are interested in power. Power comes from being the "first out" calling who gets to the White House. This is the one day I wish I had gone to law school.
Then again, what's more important now than ever is to use the momentum to build a true prograssive movement. In other words, What will the 4 year-plan be for liberals and progressives the country over?
We all will have our little battles, our little wars. What we need to reckon with is the fact that there was no progressive movement in this country until the eve of these elections. So how do we keep the momentum going. How do we use this viral marginality in a productive way?
It's no more blogging about the election. What's at stake is the use of this newly minted social network for working counter to a possible four years of wingnutery. So what's on your agenda?

Did anyone catch the AP glitch on Yahoo's map? No wonder New Mexico hasn't been cleared yet...

My stomach's in knots, too. Why would anyone vote for Bush to begin with? Where is the logic? Is our drinking water being drugged?
