Post-Election Notes From The Blogosphere : Kenneth Quinnell of Open Source Politics
by Liza Sabater

The last thought of the night I leave to Open Source Politics: A Renewed Call to Arms

1931498717.01._SCMZZZZZZZ_.jpgIf we buy the media spin trick us, the righties win.
If we let the Democratic party move to the right, the righties win.
If we shift our focus to moral issues, the righties win.
If we call ourselves failures, the righties win.
If we give up the fight, the righties win.

And if the righties win, we all lose. So go out, go on an alcoholic bender, crying jag or some other kind of stress reliever and get it all out of your system. Then quit your crying and get back to work. We need you even more now. The next two to four years have a potential for a whole lot of damage to America, the American people, the American Dream and the world at large and if we abandon all the hard work we've done in the last year, then the outcome for all of us, including most of those on the right, ironically, will be much, much worse.

TO DO : Get George Lakoff's book, Don't Think of an Elephant: Know Your Values and Frame the Debate--The Essential Guide for Progressives, pronto!

UPDATE:
HOLY CRAP! NOW I KNOW WHO GEORGE LAKOFF IS!!!! He's like the friggin' Roland Barthes of the US!

WOW!

I remember reading his Metaphors We Live By, a friggin' classic in semiotics and mythopoesis if there ever was one! I now have to go find it in my library.

ROCK ON LAKOFF!
