When Big Media aids and abets

Orcinus, baby, you're on my mind today.
Rather than protecting a democratic government, the mass media instead ridicules the blogs for doing the methodical FOIA investigation that the mass media should be doing (of the auditing that the localities should have done in the first place). The media should be acting as the fourth branch of the government, to balance out the executive, legislative, and judicial branches. Instead, the media is acting like a department of the executive -- like Pravda of the Kremlin.
