Two sons for a dreary winter afternoon
by Liza Sabater

This picture absolutely captures their characters. They adore each other. I cannot express how deeply those two care for one another. In utero, #2 (to the right) would only kick for #1 --never for his father. His first smile was for #1 and as a baby he would cry and whine whenever his big brother was not around. Separation anxiety from mommy? Hardly. From big brother? Always.

#1 is chatty and brash, but quite gentle. #2 is shy and quiet, but can go postal when provoked. #1 likes to eat anything. #2 is a friggin' picky eater. #1 is into sports. #2 is into making up games. #1 head-bangs like a white guy. #2 has negritude to spare. #1 is a literalist. #2 is a fabulist. #1 likes to make jokes. #2 is all over slap-stick.

They are definitely Ying and Yang.

Classic mommy sandwich. It actually serves an evolutionary purpose. You see, they're sqwooshing my brain, inhibiting rational thought and making sure I'm ready to make them more playmates. Why? I like them so much, I want two more. The logic? The third one would be kind of like the spare, due in part to their age differences. So the 3rd would need a 4th close in age as well (#1 and #2 are 2.7 years apart).

Now I completely understand why would people want to have more than two kids. My mate, who does not, calls this logic "mommy dementia". I beg to differ ... but that's subject for another post.

Liza, I love your site design (particularly the categories as a horizontal bar at the top). Could you email me and tell me how to do that in typepad for my blog (www.kulturblog.com)? Sorry for the threadjack... your sons seem great!

Way cute. If more kids were like yours and less like the ones screaming and having fits everywhere, my lady would have a much more convincing argument.

the bonds between brothers are amazing. encourage and nurture those bonds so they will continue forever (even when it isn't so cool to be seen with your lil' bro). My brothers and I are very close and I would trade that for the world - I reckon' especially since I'm living in my older brother's house right now, not paying rent!

C'mon baby, don't be shy
