As I lay dying : Short bits
by Liza Sabater
Ok, I am really sick. So I've taken the time to write some emails, post some comments elsewhere and get myself into more trouble that I can handle. Oh well.
In other news,
- I updated this site to MovableType 3.14. It looks ok but the "future posting" feature is not working. In other words, either I suck or the system sucks. Why is it rocket science to configure these things?
- I may be the first blogger ever to be thisclose to suing another blogger for ripping my blog's name off and cybersquatting. I'm looking for an Internet Lawyer that understands Trademark law as well as. Ironic, given that Mr. Man was C&D'd by Mattel almost 10 years ago. How times change.
- I also need a Corporate lawyer that handles Labor contracts. I am developing a grassroots project and need assistance in figuring out how to translate into technical terms the value of volunteer labor.
- Back to MovableType. SixApart got it right with the new moderation feature in MT. Sure, you don't get to see your comment posted immediately but it sure helps curb the spam. Now that I have MT-Blacklist humming along dandily again, I'm turning moderation off. Sorry Oso, that's why you got an error message. Will you forgive me?
- Now, on to TypeKey: It Sucks. I had an account with TypePad and for some bizarre reason they deleted my TypeKey account once I cancelled my TypePad account. I know, it's a bug in the system, but now there is somebody out there in TypeKeyland signing comments under the name liza. Wasn't TK supposed to give unique IDs to users? Tsk, tsk.
- Brown Bloggers meet is on and Nichelle and I will be also coordinating a Blogging Sheroes Meetup as well as the NYC's chapter meeting for the Progressive Blogs Alliance. We're looking for volunteer PR evil genii.
- Talking about volunteers, I'm looking for co-bloggers and editors. Actually, I want to expand culturekitchen into a community site. I've decided that it's time to civicspace this bitch, but that's going to take some time. I've never posted about the number of posts this site is already up, but I noticed I'm over the 1600 mark. That's a lot of entries to port --unless, of course, I leave this here blog as a legacy site. I still have not decided what I am going to do yet; although the logic behind migration is that with built up archives your new system is not lost to the search engine bots --and you don't lose your ranking. If there is a better way around this logic, please let me know about it.
Ok, odd bits and pieces off the list.
And I am still hacking my lungs out.
Bleargh!
I'm to illnesses what Charlie Brown is to kites.

1: Feel better.
2: I have a script that I used to port P6 from MT 3.1something to Drupal 4.4. Perl, actually written by James Seng, might need a little tweaking by now...I haven't looked at MT's database schema in a while but I KNOW Drupal's has changed. Holla if you want it.

p: as to your script, i'll definitely give you a holla when i'm ready to port. i think it's time.
