Holding Our Breath
by Lorraine Berry
Can you hold your breath for ten seconds?
HOLD YOUR BREATH
The average human heart beats 11 times in ten seconds.
A hummingbird's wings will beat 250 times in ten seconds.
A man can run 100 metres in just under ten seconds.
Your car, traveling 60 mph, will travel 870 feet in ten seconds.
And, in the space of ten seconds, three children will die from preventable causes.
There are 3600 seconds in an hour. 86,400 seconds in a day.
How long can we all hold our breath?
