Blog Sheroes : Meetup and be counted

Blog Sheroes

We blog as writers
As entrepreneurs
As professors
As interns
As mothers
As lawyers
As designers
As slackers
As politicians
As anything we choose
Heck, we even sometimes blog
As sex entertainers

We are not afraid to be visible
We are not afraid to be heard

We are Blog Sheroes and
Words bind us

We write about code
We write about knitting
We write about gossip
We write about our kids
We write about our kittens

We write our desires
We write our lusts
We write our jokes
And with all that writing
We write our beings in every post

We may sign with our names
Or remain incognito

One thing remains certain

We are not afraid to be visible
We are not afraid to be heard

Blog Sheroes

Women making a difference
By sharing with the world
Our talents
Our knowledge
Our wisdom
Our lunacy

In these times when
The right to choose
The right to be unique and
The right to freedom are threatened

We Meetup and are not afraid to be counted

So we will meet
To laugh
To cheer
And to get crazy

So we will meet
To forge bonds
And to found partnerships

So we will meet
To introduce our friends
Or to make new ones

So we will meet
Every month
of every year

So we will meet
And, oh yes,
We will rinse and
We will repeat

Google juice by link jerks be damned
We will rejoice in the abundance of our connections

Clueless pundits with clueless blogrolls be damned
We will promote, plug, pitch and encourage our efforts

We are not the fringes
We are certainly not a minority
And we don't need angry little men to digitally hold our hands

We are word warriors
We are code goddesses
We are digital bridge builders
And we are pioneers in this electronic frontier

With our meetups
We will take it to the brick and mortar world
To spread the word of the strong, wise and fearless women
But we will
As Blog Sheroes
First and foremost
Rejoice in our abundance and say
¡Vulva la net!

The First Blog Sheroes meetup will be in New York City on Sunday, April 24th from 7pm to 10pm at Madam X.
