Huge gap for religion and spirituality information in mass media. 64% use the internet for religious and spiritual purposes. That's 82 million Americans. 4 million people alone get BeliefNet's newsletter.
One of the ways of understanding the proliferation of religion online is intrinsically related to the proliferation to pornography online: Intimacy, immediacy.
How it relates to politics? Advocacy, acountability, and transparency.

Started on a late night radio show and started talking about god. Then in PBS he did "Searching for spirituality in America".
Democrats need to learn how speak to values voters and they need give pastors, rabbis, imams, opportunities to open up the discussion of faith.
The Terri Schiavo debacle had a galvanizing effect in the online faith community, especially the Catholic community --and per Hugh, it did have such an impact that it's effect is the papal conclave.
