Reclaiming the Declaration of Independence

Sometime today, before the fried chicken and blasting of fireworks, go and visit some of the following organizations:

These are some of the groups who have paid millions of dollars to change the constitution of this country and chart a way of government far away from the words of freedom that rang around the world after the 4th of July, 1776, when in the streets of the new United States of America patriots read :

The Declaration of Independence We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.


Our government, our constitution --that document that is supposed to protect every single human being living within the borders of our country, citizens and non-citizens, is under attack. Now, more than ever with the eventual resignation of Justice O'Connor. For my regular readers, yeah, I'm preaching to the choir.

Still, have seen all in one place all the counter-democratic legislation dominionists have been pushing in both Congress and the Senate? Yes, we had the garbage called For the relief of the parents of Theresa Marie Schiavo; but are you keeping tabs on all the legislation being pushed or that has passed that is even worse than that?

Laws Passed

Unborn Victims of Violence Act of 2004
(c) Nothing in this section shall be construed to permit the prosecution-- (1) of any person for conduct relating to an abortion for which the consent of the pregnant woman, or a person authorized by law to act on her behalf, has been obtained or for which such consent is implied by law;

(2) of any person for any medical treatment of the pregnant woman or her unborn child; or

(3) of any woman with respect to her unborn child.

(d) As used in this section, the term `unborn child' means a child in utero, and the term `child in utero' or `child, who is in utero' means a member of the species homo sapiens, at any stage of development, who is carried in the womb.'.

Just that definition of "child" should send chills down people's spines.

Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, the Supreme Court shall not have jurisdiction to review, by appeal, writ of certiorari, or otherwise, any matter to the extent that relief is sought against an entity of Federal, State, or local government, or against an officer or agent of Federal, State, or local government (whether or not acting in official or personal capacity), concerning that entity's, officer's, or agent's acknowledgment of God as the sovereign source of law, liberty, or government.


Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States authorizing the Congress to prohibit the physical desecration of the flag of the United States.

Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States relating to marriage

Article -- `SECTION 1. Marriage in the United States shall consist only of a legal union of one man and one woman.

`SECTION 2. No court of the United States or of any State shall have jurisdiction to determine whether this Constitution or the constitution of any State requires that the legal incidents of marriage be conferred upon any union other than a legal union between one man and one woman.

`SECTION 3. No State shall be required to give effect to any public act, record, or judicial proceeding of any other State concerning a union between persons of the same sex that is treated as a marriage , or as having the legal incidents of marriage , under the laws of such other State.'.

Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the 22nd amendment to the Constitution

And what exactly are they trying to get rid of?

No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice,

This, from a party that is pushing for paperless voting all across the United States .

So today, when you think about what it means to be a citizen of the United States, what it means to live in a democracy; take a minute to ponder this:

The Continental Congress voted to separate the colonies from the tyrannical rule of a king. What happens though, when there is no king to represent that tyranny? What happens when the tyrants are part of "we the people"? Are we witnessing the last days of our constitutional democracy or are we the next wave of freedom fighters?
