Oh Canada, here I come!
by Liza Sabater

Tomorrow I leave for the OpenCity2005 festival out in Winnipeg.

I guess I will find out all about those lesbo-loving, Plan B popping Canadians on my 3 day jaunt in that other Northern America. I'm going to talk about the convergence of open source practices, social software, art and politics.

Blogging and answering to comments will happen in spurts for the next few days.

Enjoy Winnipeg. One of the things I loved the most about Vancouver was the air--it didn't stick to me and I could breathe it without actually having to work at it. It's been sooooooooooooo long since I've experienced a summer day without humidity; it was amazing! That, and compact car spaces that say "small cars."

hey...

have a good time, it looks like it's gonna be a really fun conference.

if you wanna swing by le grand poutine you are still welcome to crash.

there are sorts of gays here, who smoke, and talk with adorable accents on the wrong letters. (god that whole phrase is bound to get me in trouble with someone isn't it.)

Hi Liza!

Trying to reach you from your blog wasn't easy, but I think this will do it. Thanks for your presentation here in Winnipeg. I caught it this morning and enjoyed both it and the ensuing discussion. Thought of you, too, when this item popped up... http://www.alternet.org/story/24293/
Enjoy!

Frances

It was great to meet you at the event. I am trying to author a post-event writeup, with an early draft posted along with the slides I created before heading to Winnipeg.

I would love to see links to articles about the keynote you gave Friday morning which gave the international context of the current debates. I believe there are many groups stuck with the old way of thinking that might have their eyes opened by this aspect.

Thank you, and was great to meet you!

C'mon baby, don't be shy
