Is the super-power broke beside being broken ?

I am seriously asking this question : Is the US broke beside being broken?
We already know how sociopathically inept and criminally neglectful is Bush and every person working for him. What I am wondering is, are we really that depleted in resources that we have to resort to charity? Or is that they're withholding all the resources they have to still stay the course in Iraq?
It's just hard to fathom they might consider killing off tens of thousands here in the US, so they can have a military to kill tens of thousands more in Iraq.
