Hey PBS, take a cue from Majikthise
by Liza Sabater
Lindsay over at Majikthise : Pledge week at Majikthise: Requests? has a brilliant fundraising idea :
So, all next week's blogging will be by request. What do you want to read about next week? Bird flu? Recipes? The analytic/synthetic distinction? Global warming? Cute baby animals? Bill Frist? The Red Sox?
You name it, I'll blog about it. Leave your suggestions in the comments thread below. Or, better yet, include your request on your PayPal donation form.
You know what I hate about PBS pledge marathons (or whatever they call them)? They suck. Worms meat. Rotting, pestilent carcass of worms.
What if PBS opened their archives and then asked people to pledge on the shows they'd like to see for the next month. What if we got PBS by request as a fundraising tactic? Like 24 hours of Viggo on Charlie Rose (ok, so that would be repetitive). How about Ken Burns-a-thon with people pledging like maniacs over which docus they'd show? How about some sick & twisted paid a gazillion dollars that have Barneyon prime time?
I'd so totally part with hard earned cash for Mark Twain - A Film Directed by Ken Burns and Unforgivable Blackness - The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson
or for his brother Ric's New York (7 Episode PBS Boxed Set)
and New York - The Center of the World (Part 8)
.
You get the picture --You'd get the picture with your pledge.
Well, that is not possible right now; but you can get all the blog you want from Lindsay. She'll do things for you. Just tell her I sent you. Heh.
On a more serious note, go redeem yourself and add some contribs to Lindsay's pot. We need citizen journalists like her.
You're reward? How about a laugh or two with The Old Negro Space Program?
Enjoy.
