From Miers to Plamegate in 60 seconds

WOW!

This is one of the most important pieces of news to come out of Capitol Hill; second only to the pending indictments on the Plamegate case. Actually, if it is any indication, Miers' withdrawal could only mean that the indictments will be cutting far too close to the bone of George W. Bush and his administration.

Elsewhere in the blogosphere the talking points have been parroted :
(1) She was utterly unqualified
(2) She wasn't conservative enough.

I say the the embarrassment or potential perjury from his counsel during the confirmation proceedings is what made her step out. Can you imagine Miers being called to testify in the Plamegate hearings during her Supreme Court inquiries?

That would be awkward, wouldn't it.

This is the part of her 'Dear President' letter that made me think she will be called to the stand :

MSNBC - Harriet Miers withdrawal letter || As I stated in my acceptance remarks in the Oval Office, the strength and independence of our three branches of government are critical to the continued success of this great Nation. Repeatedly in the course of the process of confirmation for nominees for other positions, I have steadfastly maintained that the independence of the Executive Branch be preserved and its confidential documents and information not be released to further a confirmation process. I feel compelled to adhere to this position, especially related to my own nomination.

As White House counsel, Harriet Miers the person who controls every piece of paper that crosses the president's desk. I am not a gambling woman but, it would not shock me if she were called to testify. I assume that after the indictments for Plamegate, Fitzgerald will hit the floor running and ask for another investigation featuring conspiracy and obstruction of justice charges --which could go all the way up to the President.

And we all know, 50% of Americans say that if he lied they'll sing it like Viggo : IMPEACH - REMOVE - JAIL.

Yeah baby, yeah.
