It goes further than just Donohue
I posted this on Blue House Diaries, in response to a comment Lorraine made. The original comment has been added to here.
Strega, [aka Lorraine], I'm so pissed off about all of this I haven't found the words yet to fully say what is in my heart and in my head, let's just say, for now, I find others to be equally complicit in this.
John Edwards should have refused to accept Amanda's resignation. She could have gone ahead and resigned, of course, but the fact that Edwards accepted it is so in keeping with the Democratic Party leadership not saying a goddamned, fucking word about this war against women for 6+ fuckingass years. Politics above women, campaigns above women, elections above women, they keep resigning us to the back burner, why, could it possibly be because they view our rights, our issues, as too hot to handle, so afraid they will run into the exact shit that the rightwing brought to bear?
My vote, YES, and if that is indeed true, what the fuck does that say about what kind of president he will be? Where the fuck will women's rights play in an administration that does not, forcefully and relentlessly, state that they will not accept a resignation of a woman that is being forced out of the fold of a political campaign by the fuckingass rightwing that has been doing this for decades?
Edwards could have been the person who stood up to them, he should have yelled and screamed from his bloody pulpit, we will not give into such slander. Edwards, and Elizabeth, should have found their convictions and stood solidly behind them.
So, yeah, Donohue is a bigoted son of a bitch but, IMO, the Democrats aren't far behind.
Women's issues and rights have been glossed over since this administration first started the war against us, the silence has been as deafening as Donohue's words are.
When Obama posted his diary telling us to be more civil to our elected officials on Kos, I fuckingass went ballistic, screaming that this party had continually told women our time would come, they fuckingass told us to have our little coffee cake parties, to raise money for them, all in the same breath as shushing us. It's been going on as long as I've been a member of this party, for forty fuckingass years and I'm sick of it.
I'm fed up with the politics on both sides of the aisle, what jesus didn't say, the Democrats say, over and over and over, shut your fucking pie hole.
I'm really so fuckingass pissed off I can't even make sense but there will come a day, very, very soon when I can, few will be spared the wrath of this woman, as I've truly had it, I'm fed up, it's fuckingass lunacy and we can't stand silent, we must tell them all, we're not going to take it anymore, not one more day.
The response to all of this by many, many women makes me so proud to be a woman, and it gives me hope, real hope, that there are enough of us to stop the persistent calls that tell us to shut the fuck up.
Equality is the key, in my opinion, not in empty words or in trying to placate us, equality in the Constitution with laws that give us true equality above and beyond words written in black and white.
It also needs to be said, loudly and clearly, to the Democratic leadership that we won't stand for it any longer. The scorn of thousands, even millions of women must be as forceful as their attempts to silence us. Nothing less will do.
Democratic leadership | Donohue | Feminism | women's issues | women's rights
Then why not support a woman candidate?

Then why not support a woman candidate? I fail to see why feminist liberals so angry about the wasp male controlled system, can't get behind Hillary Clinton. She's a woman isn't she? Maybe she's not the most liberal candidate, but surely just having a female president would send a lot stronger message than electing another president who looks and sounds like every other president.
I just don't understand why, when this is the best chance there has ever been to elect a female president, somebody who knows the struggles of being female in a male dominated society, that feminists would rather support Edwards over Hillary.
Who's a Feminist??
Some of the best feminists I know are white males. Some of the worst women I know look like Hillary Clinton. And would a feminist ever think to ask what feminists think?
Call it my litmus test, Hillary fails
This is just silly, sorry. I don't support Hillary Clinton because she has been an Iraq war hawk and still refuses to admit she made a mistake in voting for the authorization to go to war.
In fact, her campaign is whining today because they don't want the question of her vote to come up in each campaign stop, they're really, really tired of it. Just like I would say to any man in the same spot, grow some fuckingass balls and quit putting it on the terrible job Bush has done, it isn't about running against Bush, it's about speaking up and doing the right thing.
I also will not give her my vote because she has stated that abortion is tragic, it's horrible, that it should be rare, a popular meme that enables the TRAP laws in this country to further restrict abortion rights. How about it Hillary, as the first woman in the position you're in, why not stand up and say something, anything about the rights women have lost for, oh let's see, the entire time you've been a senator.
And, let me close by saying this, I've worked for many, many women who are running for office, I had a non-profit that recruited women for seats on the local school boards in California. This was a stepping stone for women to run for state office. I've been the campaign manager for women running for judgeships, for the assembly and for state senator. Every single one of these women had my support and vote because I agreed with where they stood politically, and they were staunch allies for women's rights.
I'm way past voting for a woman just because she's a woman, she has to meet certain criteria and one of them is to NOT stand shoulder to shoulder with Democrats For Life, stating that she supports them and that they are right, abortion is horrible and tragic.
Yep, it's a litmus test and Hillary fails.

I LOVE your righteous rage, Babe.
