LISTEN TO THIS : NAS' "Black President"

One of the illest songs to come out of this campaign.

Not only is NAS remixing Barack Obama's victory speech, he's thrown the immortal Tupac.
Download it here.

By the by, what do you think about the cover of NAS' album?

VIDEO BREAK! What do you get when you cross Spongebob with Halo?

The FUN SONG, but of course!

Best part ever? The Spartans jumping in the background. It's a great little shout out to "This Spartan Life".

VIDEO : Marvin Gaye sings "What's Going On" (with lyrics!)

We need something nice and smooth here. It's been kind of a drag of a week, and it's just Wednesday! Who better to groove to than Marvin Gaye.

"What's Going" is one of the most perfect "artivist" protest songs ever created. And it is a work of art, so much so, that the Gaye's record label rejected it as being uncommercial.

I love the song because the lyrics and music are almost trance like, turning subverting the radical antiwar message of the song. It's almost subliminal the way the grooves hook you while the words slip into the unconscious.

It's as if Gaye becomes with this song an R&B shaman.

The original Decepticons

The original Decepticons

I wish I knew who took this photograph of the Belligerent Four. This is not just a photo. It is a metaphor for the Bush Administration.

And, by the way, if you want to know all about The Decepticons, go to Wikipedia.

"Transformers" proves that underneath my 34Ds lies the heart of a 10 year-old boy

Oh.

My.

God.

Ok, so I know there's girls out ther that are totally into action movies; but ... maaaaaan. My boys and I just had to wipe the drool off our mouths after we saw this trailer. Actually, they got pretty spooked but I was like totally,

OOOOH!

AWESOME!

THAT ROCKS!

I can't wait for this movie to come out. Seriously. And I really don't care much if it has a story or not.

Who gives a damn about plot when the story is in how they created the "live action" looking robots?

And the sounds effects!

Duuuuuuuude! Can you dig the sound effects?!?!?!

Ohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygod
ohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygod.

I really,

honestly,

deeply,

truly

can't wait for this movie to come out.

I AM SO THERE ON OPENING NIGHT!

Being outraged online is a form of entertainment

People seem to think that by posting in threads and agreeing with other people they are changing the world. They are not. They are posting in threads online. The universe will not be altered by forum threads, even those which are very wry. Being outraged online is a form of entertainment, and refreshing a thread to receive a hit of consensus packs the thrill of genuine activism without requiring any sweat. I'm afraid this test may require more from the community than a sardonic jpeg.

So, for now, I guess I’d have to wear the “anything goes” badge.

I do find disquieting the social pressure to get on board with this program. Tim O’Reilly is a guy who really can affect one’s career online (and off, too). I do have to admit that I feel some pressure just to get on board here and that makes me feel very uneasy.

How about you?
