I can has cheezburger?

oh hai! I cants has enuf cheezburgers or lolcats, ok? ok bye-bye bbs. I CAN HAS CHEEZBURGER?

The Internet is rife with memes but publishing funny pictures of cats and lacing them with IMPACT-fonted headlines in lolspeak is probably one of most fundamentally viral pop narratives on the web.

This goes well beyond dancing gerbils, fetish sites about girls eating sandwiches or pseudo anime lolspeak.

LOLcats are da bomb!

Ain't Nothing Wrong With That

Oh my goodness. I haven't had a crush on a song like this in a while. I heard it for the first time this morning and have been playing it repeatedly on the iPod. (I bought the album--first listen says it fuckin' rocks.)

Enjoy some Friday dancing! (Or "air humping" as a friend of mine calls it)

A November to Remember!

The midterm elections are approaching fast and you have the opportunity to get more involved in making sure that progressives turnout and vote this November.

People For the American Way needs your help in contacting our members to make sure our progressive voices are heard at the ballot box.

Over the past six years, we have seen an abuse of presidential powers undermining our country’s system of checks and balances, an erosion of fundamental civil liberties, irresponsible tax and spending policies and a disastrous foreign policy. It is time for a change – let’s make this A November to Remember!

People For the American Way has organized a series of phone banking nights to make focused calls to our members in key districts where important ballot measures and candidate races are taking place and WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Our first phone bank will be on Wednesday, October 4 from 6:00-9:00 pm at the PFAW Northeast Regional Office at 149 5th Avenue, 7th Floor, in New York City. Phone banking will continue every Monday – Thursday until the election on November 7. Light snacks and refreshments will be served and volunteers will be briefed with inside information about the midterm election.

Progressive values are at stake this midterm election. We need you to help make our voices heard!

If you have free minutes to donate, please bring your cell phone!

WHAT: A November to Remember: A series of phone banks to PFAW members about important ballot measures and races in the November elections.

Words to live by

There's no question that in my lifetime, the contrast between what I called private affluence and public squalor has become very much greater. What do we worry about? We worry about our schools. We worry about our public recreational facilities. We worry about our law enforcement and our public housing. All of the things that bear upon our standard of living are in the public sector. We don't worry about the supply of automobiles. We don't even worry about the supply of foods. Things that come from the private sector are in abundant supply; things that depend on the public sector are widely a problem. We're a world, as I said in The Affluent Society, of filthy streets and clean houses, poor schools and expensive television. I consider that contrast to be one of my most successful arguments.
