Missing you, Richie!

When I met Richie, I was 18 years old. He was indeed a confidante, someone I could turn to with my cynicism and doubts of 'real change' ever happening through electoral means. In addition to his open door policy with us, young people interested in consciousness raising, he shared his critical eye for media everyday - forwarding various articles for us to review. As you mention above, as a young woman of color, I felt very connected to him, even when I didn't truly communicate with others. On this day, 4 years after his passing, I still feel that connection.

He was a wonderful spirit and he is truly missed. Pa'lante!!! Siempre pa'lante!!!

I have a simple philosophy...Do what creates opportunity for all, what reinforces responsibility from all of us, and what will help to build a community where everybody's got a role to play and a place at the table.
