A question for expert Journos out there

Yes, I am looking at you Jay Rosen Smiling

In The Front-Runner’s Fall, Joshua Green claims to have emails documenting the implosion of the Clinton campaign :

"Hillary Clinton’s campaign was undone by a clash of personalities more toxic than anyone imagined. E-mails and memos—published here for the first time—reveal the backstabbing and conflicting strategies that produced an epic meltdown."

I have to ask : How can they publish what is supposed to be private correspondence? Or is there some privacy clause that applies differently to Senators and/or presidential candidates?

Thanks for any and all answering this question.

OOPS! THEY DID IT AGAIN

So, let's see how this works. If a Republian does or says something it's supposed to be splashed all over to media, but if it's a Demoncrap, it's supposed to be kept hush-hushed. These are public figures in a campaign for the most important job in the world and the world has a right to know what they are up to. The info has been released for the good of all concerned and to expose those who are not worthy of any position in American politics.

Please take time to read the following letter from a man that knows what can happen when an unknown is given power over a country.

Each year I get to celebrate Independence Day twice. On June 30, I celebrate my independence day and on July 4, I celebrate America's. This year is special because it marks the 40th anniversary of my independence.

On June 30, 1968, I escaped Communist Cuba, and a few months later I was in the United States to stay. That I happened to arrive in Richmond on Thanksgiving Day is just part of the story, but I digress.

I've thought a lot about the anniversary this year. The election-year rhetoric has made me think a lot about my native Cuba and what transpired there. In the late 1950's, most Cubans thought Cuba needed a change, and they were
right. So when a young leader came along talking about change, every Cuban was at least very receptive.

When the young leader spoke eloquently and passionately and denounced the old system, the press in Cuba and even the USA fell in love with him. They never questioned who
his friends were or what he really believed in. When he said he would help the farmers and the poor and bring free medical care and education to all, everyone believed. When he said he would bring justice and equality to all, everyone said 'Praise the Lord' finally. And when the young charismatic leader said, 'I will be for change and I will be the arbiter of that change, everyone yelled, 'Viva Fidel!'

But everyone was so excited about the change, nobody bothered to ask about the details of the change. Well, by the time the executioner's guns fell silent and the people's own guns had been taken away. By the time everyone was equal, they were equally poor, hungry, and oppressed. By the
time everyone received their free education it was worth nothing. By the time the press noticed, it was too late, because they were now working for him. By the time the change was finally implemented Cuba had been knocked
down a couple of notches to Third-World status. By the time the change was done way more than a million people had taken to boats, rafts, and inner tubes, risking sharks or drowning to escape the change. You can call those who made it ashore with us to Florida or anywhere else in the world, the most fortunate Cubans. And now I am getting a very familiar feeling that goes back to the beginning of my story.

But, we would never fall for that in America. We wouldn't put a young leader in charge of this great country who promised
change without asking: What change? How will you carry it out?
What will it cost America? Would we?

Manuel Alvarez, Jr.

Sounds like young Castro and Obama were cut from the same cloth.

Ummm...

Seems to me the invasions of privacy and the claims of executive power that Bush has made over the last 8 years is far closer to the autocracy of Castro than anything Obama has said or done.

Bush has done his best to institute the autocracy, cronyism and corruption of a communist regime. So don't even try red baiting around here. Bush is closer to Castro or Kruschev than any Democrat has ever been. Bush has abandoned the Constitution for arbitrary executive power. Bush has abandoned the free market for cronyism that costs taxpayers billions of dollars for inadequate infrastructure and inadequate support for our troops. Bush has abandoned freedom for surveillance. So don't come around here trying to red bait. Look to the Republican Party for the real threat to America and ask yourself why Bob Barr and Pete McClosky, just to name two, abandoned the Republican Party.

so you got the memo.

you're the new minority.

get used to it.

AN OBAMANATION OF AMERICAN POLITICS

I said nothing about being pleased with the direction Bush has lead this country. Candidates jump parties all the time, even Hillary wants to run as an independent. I would like to see that happen because it would split the Demoncrap voters all to pieces and all but assure a victory for McCain. Your Golden Boy Obama has a very shady past that he take offence to everytime it is mentioned. He does not want anything to expose him as the media created fraud that he is. That's the problem with all the Obama sheeple, they don't want to ask the real questions that Obama needs to answer. All they are concerned about is the warm fuzzy feelings they get from Obamas scripted, teleprompted speeches and his hallow promises of hope and change. Hope for what? Change to what? Obama never would have gotten to where he is without some very crafty handlers who have yet to be exposed. The day will come when all of Obamas skeletons will come tumbling out of the closet for the world to see. His Golden Boy image will be destroyed and he will slither back to the gutters of Chicago where he came from.

Ah, typical right wing liar

You begin this comment with an outright lie then continue with vague, unsubstatiated smears. You claim Hillary Clinton wants to run as an independent? What do you base this on? She has never said she will, she has not started any efforts to do so and she has openly endorsed Barack Obama. So you are either misinformed or lying. Which is it?

Next you devolved into a strange series of vague accusations with no actual facts or citations. It all adds up to nothing. Obama is among the most open candidates around. Compare his interactions with hecklers and his open rallies to the Bush and McCain events where every question and every participant is vetted before the poor, weak Bush and McCain can be exposed to them. The Republicans run mock rallies and press events similar to Soviet era circuses. Obama actually meets and interacts with people. So don't give me that crap.

As to skeletons, look at McCain's own infidelities, his connection with the Savings and Loan scandal, his complete lack of understanding of foriegn policy or even modern geography. By comparison Obama does look pretty damned good, doesn't he? He actually has positions, has open press conferences and discusses things with opposition. McCain hides behind loyal handlers and hides his past.

Look, if you want to advocate for Bob Barr, please be my guest. At least Barr has some integrity. But McCain has no integrity. Obama will stand the scrutiny of the American people and he has never hidden from that scrutiny the way Bush and McCain hide like vampires from the sun. So either you are a complete hypocrite and liar, or you are a Bob Barr supporter who has yet to come clean.

Words to live by

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the deadly light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.
