Actual Freeper Quotes
With apologies to Pam Spaulding, but I am reading this piece on Michael that appeared on Free Republic and I am shocked at how right on target the freepers get the framing of this scandal.
Actually, I think ya'll should take a walk in the freeper park and listen on the discussion. There are people there framing it as about ... drum roll please ... abuse of power.
Ponder that one : Freepers acknowledging abuses of power within the Republican party! But why can they say this with no sense of equivocation?
Read on and I'll tell you at the end of the post.

Even though it may cost the GOP the majority, I can't really feel too upset that Foley was outted. He was a RINO. It's because of guys like him that the GOP never really had control of the House anyway.5 posted on 10/03/2006 1:18:04 PM PDT by Brilliant

Drudge and Shep Smith? Personally I don't care who's gay or who isn't. Most gay folks I know who quietly acknowledge (in private of course) that they're Republican feel that there's more to our baneful existence than being gay and having to let the whole world know about it. I'm not in Foley's head, but there seems to be a lot of contradiction in the man's life. Come out of the closet and challenge the gay political establishment that there's more happening in the political world than the homosexual agenda. Of course, if one is gay it would naturally be of concern---but at the expense of negating everything else that's happening in the world?26 posted on 10/03/2006 1:31:05 PM PDT by brooklyn dave (Dhimmis better not be Dhummis!!!!------or else!!!)

I agree with you 100 percent; this isn't about sex or being gay for me.It's about his abuse of power with people who worked for him and the rest of the Congress people.
But it is a wonderous thing to watch: Democrats being appalled that there is a gay in the House.

Smoke, fire.If there weren't something to the accusations, Foley wouldn't have resigned.
Do I think it's oddly timed? Maybe.
Do I think people who would proposition the underage should be in positions of trust? Never.

This seems counterintuitive. The one group definitely looking bad to the general public because of the Foley affair is gays. If you want people to vote against an anti-gay marriage amendment you certainly wouldn't want to associate gays with child abuse.53 posted on 10/03/2006 1:48:55 PM PDT by Prokopton

"ALL IM's can be retrieved?"
Yes, but there must be a court order to obtain them from the ISP servers. Unless someone is accused of breaking the law, there would be no need to acquire the IMs. Now if a person has an enemy, and that enemy wants to set them up, they could certainly keep a log of the conversations.54 posted on 10/03/2006 1:49:27 PM PDT by TommyDale (Iran President Ahmadinejad is shorter than Tom Daschle!)

I don't mind that he was outed so much as I mind why and how. This wasn't about outing in that sense of the word--it was about trying to win the House and the Senate, and they (as usual) don't care how they do it, so long as they win.As for Foley, he is despicable, but also we must remember that adult males hitting on younger boys is typical of "gay" behavior. That's what they do, and that's what the gay agenda the 'Rats are promoting is all about. They say they support gays, so this is what they support.

It used to be so complicated, deciding which politicians represented our views, and which ones didn't. We had to evaluate moral issues like homosexuality, pedophilia, abuse of power, etc. The RINOs have made it so simple. As long as there's an "R" behind the name, anything goes. And the RINOs are offering to decide for us, who gets to have an "R" and who doesn't. They have a completely different set of criteria than the rest of us, choosing the ones who are most like dems, but it sure saves us conservatives a lot of time and trouble.91 posted on 10/03/2006 2:54:58 PM PDT by BykrBayb (Be careful what you ask for, and even more careful what you demand. Did you just here Major Garret on Special Report about the comment from Foley's attorney??Now he is claiming the reason he is gay and going after young boys because he was molested by a priest when he was 13

The buzz is that this is even more widespread than we know----and that Congressional staff members are also preying on youngsters.Government officials and employees on government workstations engaged in the viewing and downloading of pornography, or child porn, and using government resources to conduct such activities must be investigated.
Authorities have prosecuted cases where individuals engaged in activities centering on the internet (where porn is rampant). People have been indicted for viewing and downloading internet pornography including male and female child porn, frequenting internet chat rooms to engage in conversations with children, perhaps arranging to meet underage male and female children for the purposes of engaging in sexual activity.........and bringing underage children across state lines for sexual activity.
The use of government resources for such activities coerced taxpayers into underwriting the commission of crimes against children without their knowledge or consent, which constitutes the crime of second degree coercion of taxpayers.

So what?
The only person who should be ASHAMED of himself is the man who played out a sexual fantasy to a 16 year old.Everything else is trivia.

I hope the "buzz" is correct and as many as possible of the child molesters and sodomites in D.C. are made known, and prosecuted to the fullest extent for any criminal activities.
Foley should be castrated for his repugnant behavior. But, Liz, I will tell you what is also appalling - the moral equivocation from a lot of Republicans. They willingly shed any sense of decency when they state things such as, 'the legal age of consent in D.C. is sixteen', as if that exonerates Foley!
Republicans are being very dishonest, and they will learn, hopefully sooner rather than later, that they cannot remain viable whilst standing on feet of clay.108 posted on 10/03/2006 5:28:55 PM PDT by jla

The reason why it's being framed as abuse of power it's because it's abuse of the "liberal and gay ennabling" power within the republican party. Hence the R.I.N.O (republican in name only) being slapped on Foley --and the call to get rid of him and with him the disease that's afflicting the party.
I find the whole freeper discussion interesting because the whole discussion went from the scandal being about the political work of "extremist gay activists" to being one about values and Republicans being lost in the wilderness.
Go read.

Oh yeah! :)
Go girl, wading into the swamp and retrieving the best of the knuckledraggers. They really are tied up in knots over this one.
