What a fucking bunch of hypocrites all you so-called Liberals are, railing against Rep. Joe Wilson's heckling of Barack Obama. Honestly, from where I sit none of you have a reason to call the man any names just because he exercised his Freedom of Speech.
I don't think it is a bad thing for these people to show their true colors. Mark Sanford ought not to resign because he had an affair after maybe years of hypocritically fronting what was an unhappy marriage. The fucker needs to resign because he left the country to get some pootie-tang in a grossly misguided abuse of his authority as governor of South Carolina.
Larry Craig didn't have to resign in disgrace because he was cruising for some hot man-on-man sex with a stranger. He needed to resign because the lying, self-hating homosexual went out of his way to marginalize and oppress LGBT people of all kinds especially through his signing of the "Defense of Marriage Act".
We need to be reasonable here. He or she who is free of sin should only be the ones to cast the first stone.
Believe it or not, Republicans happen to be humans; people with feelings, emotions and actually complex inner lives. Yet this is not about republicans. This is about what we do to Freedom of Speech in the age of YouTube and Facebook and how, in the end, our hypocrisy will come back to us in spades particularly through our children.
It is amazing to me that it wasn't even a full 24 hours after Obama's speech and his advice to kids to be careful about what the put up on Facebook, that this happened.
You are hypocrites if you think that high standards of equanimity are needed to run a country. On the contrary, we ought to know what's in the minds and hearts of our so-called leaders.
Watch the fucking video I've included of a standard day at the UK Parliament. That is a maginificent dressing down of Gordon Brown by peers heckling at him.
Yet, to go back at Rep. Wilson, think about what pushed him over the edge. It was two words: "illegal" and "immigrants".
As I have said no countless time to the people in the pro-migrant advocacy industry: I told you so. I said Comprehensive Immigration Reform wasnt going to happen this year and I have said that lessons need to be learned about the war over Health Care Reform if people are to succeed in bringing real help to the undocumented people that needed it.
And so it happens that Joe Wilson's outburst was over Obama's singling out rather crudely the undocumented's need for health care by calling them "illegal immigrants".
That's when Joe Wilson's head exploded.
That's when we as advocates for equal rights for every single person within our borders, including undocumented immigrants; ought to be paying attention and thanking Wilson for his refreshing outburst.
This is a learning moment not for the GOP but for us on the so-called left. And we should welcome more of these if we really want to fight for social justice, civil rights and that little pesky privilege we call Freedom of Speech.
So shut the fuck down and get over it.
We need more Rep. Joe Wilson's to speak out against human rights like health care and fair immigration policies. So we can show the world and voters why we need to get rid of them to save democracy.
So grow up!

Re: All you so-called liberals complaining about Rep. Joe ...
There are rules for conduct, specific rules covering how representatives are supposed to behave, which Joe Wilson decided to ignore -- and in addition, he is a former Colonel, he certainly knows a thing or two about respect for higher-ups and the chain of command. We're not talking about free speech, we're talking about the rules we've established in hopes of encouraging respectful discourse.
And he picked one of the most racist possible moments for his calculated outburst - calculated, no doubt, to pander to his constituency's deep seated fears of brown people streaming into the country to get health care. He had the speech in front of him, he was not overcome by a sudden burst of hatred - he knew what he was doing.
Sure there are other issues, but concern for one does not preclude concern for the others -- we can be pissed off about Van Jones and the Bush Administration and still have enough piss left for Jim Wilson.
Oh and right now your Captcha says "Dobbs agitate". Which I find amusing.
