I love Bernie Mac because he found the funny in the pain of truth
This is the infamous clip from The Original Kings of Comedy. I fell in love with Bernie Mac ten thousand times again after this movie.
This is the story of his sister's children living with him. His sister was allegedly a drug addict who lost custody of her kids and Bernie took them in so the court wouldn't separate them. He talks of his trials and tribulations raising the children after years of being "childless" (his daughter was at the time 25 and living on her own).
Bernie talked the truth not just of his family but of the reality of a lot of black folks --and I am not just referring to gringo blacks, but to all Negro families in the hemisphere of América. You can have in one family, even among siblings, one living The Middle Class Dream while the other is still stuck in Ghetto Hell.
He spoke to our blended families and our blended realities and to the challenges that many of us have as people of color "making it". The onus to stand up to the plate and do go on our people who haven't gotten to where we're at it. That's the kind of responsibility or burden that I still believe many of my "white" counterparts ever have to deal with in their daily lives.
Bernie made all those trials, challenges and tribulations not only seem hysterical but cool. Without them then he wouldn't have the gift of comedy. Especially when talks about his disastrous sex life.

I love Bernie Mac
I fell in love with the comedy of Bernie Mac a couple of years ago. What I love about his comedy is that it is real. He talked about the accountability he had about the mistakes in his life. He never talked about his mistakes as so huge or too horrible to overcome but as learning experiences. And of course he did all of that in such a freaking entertaining way. I love him and I will miss him. RIP Bernie Mac...the good really do die young. I miss you already.

Bernie Mac...RIP
LOL...I am on break while I am reading this now. Bernie Mac was the man...had a unique talent of making light of some of the real struggles that people of color face in this country.
The good die young....Thanks Bernie aka Uncle Bobby B...you will be missed.
As I am,
