McCain's anger and fear dominated the debate

Barack Obama needs to talk smack to McCain more often. Why? Because it's become clear that McCain not only has a problem with his reckless  judgement (ie: Sarah Palin). John McCain seems to have a serious anger management problem.

Yet what is McCain angry about?

Obama not only brought out the "grumpy old man" in McCain. I don't think though that it wasn't just contempt that moved McCain to never make eye contact with Obama. I truly believe McCain couldn't look at Obama because he was afraid of losing it. At one point his face looked disjointed, like an an ugly mask. Josh Marshall has more to say about that.

John McCain was the perfect example of the ugly American, full of contempt, thinking of himself as better and eager to use force to prove his superiority. And do we want to have that kind of diplomacy for another 4 years? Is that the face of the United States we want the world to have?

Barack's smack talk moment after the jump.

OBAMA: Look, I'm very proud of my vice presidential selection, Joe Biden, who is the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and as he explains, and as John well knows, the issues of Afghanistan, the issues of Iraq, critical issues like that, don't go through my subcommittee because they're done as a committee as a whole.

But that's Senate inside baseball. But let's get back to the core issue here. Senator McCain is absolutely right that the violence has been reduced as a consequence of the extraordinary sacrifice of our troops and our military families.

They have done a brilliant job, and General Petraeus has done a brilliant job. But understand, that was a tactic designed to contain the damage of the previous four years of mismanagement of this war.

And so John likes -- John, you like to pretend like the war started in 2007. You talk about the surge. The war started in 2003, and at the time when the war started, you said it was going to be quick and easy. You said we knew where the weapons of mass destruction were. You were wrong.

You said that we were going to be greeted as liberators. You were wrong. You said that there was no history of violence between Shiite and Sunni. And you were wrong. And so my question is...

LEHRER: Senator Obama...

OBAMA: ... of judgment, of whether or not -- of whether or not -- if the question is who is best-equipped as the next president to make good decisions about how we use our military, how we make sure that we are prepared and ready for the next conflict, then I think we can take a look at our judgment.

The whole debate transcript of the debate is at CNN.

I agree... but...

Don't think I don't sympathize with your take. I would have enjoyed seeing Obama tear into McCain without mercy. McCain definitely deserves it for his stunts over the last several weeks. But I fear it might have done Obama damage with the independent and undecided votes.

I tried hard to inject some objectivity into my post about the debate. Check it out if you are interested:

Is this for real?

What hit me was how smug and stupid McCain is and was on the debate. Not an inch of decency. Not even close to Presidential. More like a school bully who knows he is losing his power to push people around. What I can't understand is some people will still vote for him even after the economy is crashing and people are dying in needless wars. I used to ask whether these people are stupid. Now I know, "yes, they are". One thing for them… If McCain wins - it's your choice. You make your choice. Live with it, pay up the next $700 billion+ and shut the f*ck up. You just lost your right to b*tch.

McCain, Lack of Eye CONtact

McCain Seems to have gotten his jacket pulled over his head in Washington, referencing this story here: http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/220359.php, by the Democrats.

This makes a lot of sense now, McCain was incensed at Obama...clearly why he couldn't even look him in the eye. McCain proves himself a petulant coward.
