When white people play black music : The Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain's rendition of Isaac Haye's "Shaft"

There is nothing like seeing a middle-aged white guy playing the ukelele while singing the words :  To "Who's the man who will risk his dick for his brother man".

It makes the moment just totally awesome.

I cracked up when they cut to the one black guy in the audience, as if seeking his approval. Which didn't make it any easy when they start singing the song.

Well, that was worth some perusing of YouTube. The Ukele Orchestra of Great Britain are known to scream Should I Stay Or Should I Go, brood on Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights, or rock it with Smells Like Teen Spirit.

That last one is just too awesome :

Risk his dick?

I've seen this clip before, and I guess I was laughing so hard I totally missed that. Thanks for the heads-up. (I wonder what possessed them to make that change in the lyrics?)

ROFLMAO, especially when he says, "Right on brother." I wonder what Isaac Hayes would think?

Words to live by

"We all agree that neither the Government nor political parties ought to interfere with religious sects. It is equally true that religious sects ought not to interfere with the Government or with political parties. We believe that the cause of good government and the cause of religion suffer by all such interference."

— -- Rutherford B. Hayes, Statement as Governor of Ohio, 1875, from Albert J. Menendez and Edd Doerr, The Great Quotations on Religious Freedom
