Bill Richardson Speaks to Native Americans
Bill Richardson, fresh from his diplomatic success in North Korea, is now the only Presidential Candidate of either party to actively work with Indian Country. He has agreed to participate in Prez on the Rez, the forum in Indian Country sponsored by the Indigenous Democratic Network (INDN). From INDN:
Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico, the first presidential candidate to commit to Prez on the Rez, recorded a brief message to the supporters of the INDN's List Education Fund and interested Indians throughout the country.
In his message, Governor Richardson outlines why he was eager to be the first candidate committed to Prez on the Rez and the importance of national leaders reaching out to Indian Country.
We expect the other presidential candidates to commit very soon. Of course, if they don't, it will send a strong message to all American Indians that the candidate in question might not be committed to changing the way Washington deals with Indian Country. Stay tuned for updates.
Meanwhile, Prez on the Rez continues to generate positive attention throughout Indian Country and newsmedia across the nation. The event merited coverage in the New York Times political blog, and has received extensive coverage in the Southern California region in which it will be held.

I've posted some Edwards and Obama stuff from time to time. Richardson is just doing the most interesting things at the moment. North Korea trip was pretty neat. I get the Prez on the Rez stuff from INDN, not Richardson and I tend to publicize INDN stuff. I'd love it if the other candidates were paying attention to Indian Country, but so far they haven't been.
Besides, you do plenty of Edwards stuff and, Obama and Hillary, god help them, get some coverage from Holland and Wallner. So I figure Richardson needs some attention.
As to where Richardson stands, he is a bit to the right on some things. In some cases I am as well (e.g. death penalty). In other cases his position is more complicated than simply left and right and I like how he expresses the complexity (e.g. immigration). And on Iraq he comes off the best.
I am still liking Richardson, Obama AND Edwards and feel each brings something diffrerent to the table.

...I mean, ugh. Nobody cares what the two HillaryBots think, and seriously, this place is starting to look like a Richardson blog.

Really is partly random

I'm just getting lots of good stuff about Richardson. And not from his site! I posted each of the MoveOn videos, which were Richardson, Edwards and Obama (notice whose missing!). I posted about Edwards, Obama and Hillary refusing to work with Fox News associated forums. Posted some Vilsack stuff before he dropped out (wise move!). Richardson spoke in NYC and I got sent that. Sounded good so I posted it. The Prez on the Rez stuff I originally posted simply as something happening...the fact that Richardson is the only one taking that entire voting block seriously deserves some attention. And Richardson is a star when it comes to foreign policy, so that got posted. Can I help it if he's doing all the right things right now?
As to your posting more, you know I always encourage that. And I like Edwards as well. And Obama is proving himself to be a savvy and fast learner. If he can keep up even half the momentum, Obama is our man to beat Hillary then to kick whatever pathetic Republican candidate's ass. Richardson is second tier and everyone knows that. But perhaps the things he is doing that ARE noteworthy will be noted by the other candidates. And I STILL say he is our ideal VP candidate. Obama/Richardson. Edwards/Richardson. Gore/Richardson. All would be POWERFUL teams.
Richardson's debate performance

Richardson is getting hit hard over at dailykos over his performance at the debate and comments about roe v. wade:
as noted in Trapper John's post on dailykos.com's front page, in last week's debate Richardson said his model for a supreme court justice was Byron "Whizzer" White. Problem is that White is forever villified by feminists for being one of the two dissenting votes against Roe v. Wade, and its also pointed out White was a dissenter in the Miranda v Arizona case, which ruling established the right of citizens to be read their rights (Mirandised) when they are arrested. Also it is pointed out that when Richardson was asked about White's being against Roe, he said "White was in the 60's. Wasn't Roe v Wade in the 80's?"
I think this, and other things like his pro death penalty stance .etc, indicates Richardson is unacceptably weak on domestic issues and should be neither president nor vp. His specialty is foreign policy, so IMO he ought to be back in the cabinet again if a Democrat is elected, considered for Secretary of State, or National Security Advisor or something like that.
I think Wesley Clark is more likely vp material, particularly if Edwards or Obama is nominated, neither of whom has much foreign policy experience.

...all the Richardson propaganda here? Check out the guy's position on social issues; it's not very compelling.
