Obama's Ground Game : Watch it!

Micah Sifry has put together, with a little help of his friends, a video of what the Obama ground campaign looks like using Google Earth. Watch it closely because if you are an Obamaniac, you are going to love seeing how intensely people are working all over the country to get Obama elected.

The game is not going to be won on the web. It's always going to be won on the ground. Yet, it is obvious that Obama's "MoveOn.org'ing" of his presidential campaign has helped in getting those big margins (of up to 14%) that are registering at the polls.

It doesn't hurt either that US Americans are sick and tired of 8 years of neo-con economics and will vote anyway for the guy who is neither a Republican nor McCain.

Same as it ever was, same as it ever was, same as it ...

I just saw the trailer for the movie "W : A Life Misunderestimated" which features Once In A Lifetime by Talking Heads and thought, how appropriate a song to start the day today. Am afraid we will  have to use it as the soundtrack for tonight during the last presidential debate.

Lyrics after the jump!

Protect the vote in Montana: Linda McCulloch for Secretary of State

Since 2000 most Americans have come to realize that they have no guarantee that their vote will count. We know pretty much for a fact that there have been at least 2 dubious elections in Florida, at least one in Ohio, one in Georgia and one in North Carolina. And this is probably just the tip of the iceberg. Florida's elections have become so bad that the Carter Center, which monitors elections all over the world, refused to monitor Florida's 2004 Presidential election because Florida did not meet the minimum requirement for a democratic election. Even Republicans are admitting probable election fraud in Ohio and Georgia and probably also Florida.

The Secretary of State Project is targeting states where election fraud has happened or seems likely and where the secretary of state is either doing nothing or seems actively involved in election fraud. They support honest, reform-minded candidates for secretary of state who take election fraud seriously. So far they have won in Ohio, Minnesota, New Mexico, Nevada and Iowa. Their winning candidate, in Ohio, Jennifer Brunner, has been winning awards for her reforms.

FL-16: What's the Matter with Florida??

There is something about the FL-16 Congressional district that just screams hypocrite. It is a perfect example of right wing (Republican AND Democrat) hypocricy, scandal and pseudo-morality.

Now, when Republicans act in a corrupt or hypocritical fashion, the Republican party almost always makes excuses and defends even their worst, most offensive members. When Democrats act in a corrupt or hypocritical fashion, it is often Democrats who call attention to it and reject that corruption and hypocricy. FL-16 is an example of both.

In 2006 Democrats won the FL-16 district because right wing Republican hypocrite Mark Foley got caught as a pedophile. This is a typical bible thumping Republican who is always talking about morals...but who is himself about as disgustingly immoral as you can get. The Republican Party did their best to defend this sleazeball, siding with NAMBLA, but in the end the voters stood up to Republican sleaze and voted Mark Foley out. In his place they voted for a bible-thumping Democrat who is always talking about morals: Tim Mahoney.

Right Wing Idiocy: Obama as Muslim...and "exterminate Jew power"

In my continuing coverage of Republican racism and anti-Semitism, one of the stupidest Republican memes was "gee, uh, duh, isn't Obama a Moooslim?"

My first reaction was "so what if he was?" Why couldn't a Muslim be an American leader? But that is beside the point. There has never, ever been the slightest evidence that Obama was Muslim.

Those who listen to this lie and believe it are, quite honestly, abyssmally stupid or amazingly gullible.

But who originated the "duh...Obama is a Moooslim" lie?

Seems an unstable anti-Semite, named Andy Martin, started it. And Fox News let this unstable anti-Semite assert lies without questioning him...yet another connection between Fox News, lies, and anti-Semitism.

Columbus Day

Together, Columbus Day and Thanksgiving are the foundation myths of America. I have been ambivalent, in the litteral meaning of the word, towards Columbus Day for years now. I celebrate America and Columbus' "discovery" of the "New World" because the result of his discovery and the ultimate founding of America is that my family, myself included, is alive and thriving today. Without America, my family would have been exterminated in the genocide of Nazi Germany if not before that in the genocide of the pogroms in Tsarist Russia and later Stalin's genocide in the Soviet Union.

But I am reminded every Columbus day of the genocides on which the founding of America was based. My family had a refuge from genocide because of a previous genocide committed against the natives of America. How's THAT for ambivalence?

This year I have read some new info to bring into my annual Columbus Day article. This last year I read two books that discuss the Americas before Columbus: 1421 by Gavin Menzies and 1491 by Charles Mann. Both present controvesial but interesting theories of what happened before Columbus in the Americas.

The year 1421 is the year when China possibly discovered much of the world. And 1491 is, of course, the year before Columbus sailed.

Philadelphia Flyers fans boo the heck out of Sarah Palin and her daughters

I don't know if the w00t the crowd for booing Sarah Palin or to be appalled at the fact she dragged her middle and smallest daughters out on the ice with her. What kind of a mother subjects their daughters to the scorn and rejection of thousands of fans on a hockey rink?

Oh right. The same mother that would force her daughter through a pregnancy even if she were the victim of rape or sexual abuse by her father.

Way to go Sarah!

ps : Can you spot the fan with the Obama/Biden banner?

Rezko is talking but not about Obama

You know the right wingosphere is going bonkers over the intimation that there may be anything with which to "take down" Barack Obama.

They don't have a viable candidate.

Their VP has been described as a joke and a cancer to the Republican Party.

Some either think Sarah Palin is a dangerous mistake.

So what to the right wingers do? Either incite to racist violence against Obama or try to smear him through the Rezko corruption investigation. Even if the real fall guy looks to be Illinois Democratic Gov. Rod Blagojevich :

Malkin is worth tackling for two good reasons:

A) she is very influential, particularly in the blogosphere; and

B) her work is harmful disinformation that needs to be examined and eviscerated.

And as it happens, I have the kind of information needed to counter her pollution. So please, bear with me.
