Monday Open Thread : When paparazzi attack
I usually have a heart of stone for celebrities who complain about having their privacy invaded, especially those who like Britney Spears are wanton to selling their newborn kids' pictures to the highest bidder and what not, but this picture just broke my heart.
She was coming out of a car with her kid in tow, when she twisted her ankle and almost dropped her baby to the amusement and photo frenzy of every paparazzi in sight.
Maybe I'm overreacting but I think people who stalk and photograph celebrities for a living are fucked up human beings but for them to attack a pregnant woman like Spears and drive her to tears just puts them on a whole different league. They're just inhuman.
Why? Why do people do this?!?

Right on Mr. War Jesus
Dignity and chivalry have, indeed sir, disappeared from this country. Lady Spears and her offspring (may there be many more) represent the hope that we all hold dear; that once again brave American knights will tilt for their fair maid's honor on the tourney field. I can only dream that my own boy will take up my ribbon of plaid mini-skirt and ...
When was America dignified? Chivalric? Are you kidding? To quote our fine leader (Dick Cheney) those ideas "may be a sign of personal virtue," but like conservation and modesty, they're not exactly our strong suits. I certainly feel for the children (they're doomed), but knowing that she garners (feeds on) that much attention, perhaps Ms Spears could do more to avoid these clownish public appearances.
I don't feel sorry for her
I don't feel sorry for her either. The kids, yes, but not her. Why hasn't she bought a baby sling, or even a stroller? Why is she lugging the infant around with her like a sack of potatoes? If she had dropped that baby, I don't doubt the press would have taken pictures of its swollen little head before calling 911 - but their lust for a leading story doesn't excuse the fact that she's a bad parent. And unlike most bad parents, she has the money to pay for resources that would help her become a good parent. I hope CPS steps in, because her family hasn't seemed to do so.

no compassion with the compensation
Well having a pitty party over the lack of privacy after selling your image for money as an Icon.Wont happen at my place either. But heavens man, thats a woman with a baby. Whom among these picture for money vultures instinctively charged forward to help? Make sure she and the infant was ok.They have no compassion just a lust for compensation.
Wasnt dignity revered in this country once? Couldnt someone have put the camera down a moment.
Is the papparazzi montra "chivalry isnt dead yet, but a few more blows to the back of the head and we wont have to hear from it anymore"
