Allow me to ponder upon Sarah Palin's appearance on SNL

I already ranted about Sarah Palin's appearance on SNL.

Let me throw some ponderous thoughts into the mix.

There's quite a lengthy article today at The New Yorker which explains how Palin got into the halls of Capitol Hill by way of their back doors. In "The Insiders : How John McCain came to pick Sarah Palin", we have a shrewd and ambitious woman using every little stepping stone she can to get herself out of her "small town state" and into the big scene of Washington DC.

A feat that would have been all but impossible without the power the internet has in generating buzz.

Allow me to rant about Sarah Palin's appearance on SNL [UPDATED]

Note : I had to change the embeds, no thanks to the vampiric lawyers of NBC. I hope they burn in the eternal fires of hell for being such greedy bastards.

Here's Sarah in the opening. She actually comes across better than the actors.

I mean, seriously, Alec Baldwin comes across as being drunk. He can't read properly from a teleprompter or cue cards? What kind of sloppy acting was that!

Here's the Weekend Update bit in which she's completely underused.

I mean, SARAH PALIN USED TO BE AN ANCHORWOMAN! Couldn't they give her something to say? Yeah, so what about Amy Pohler. The woman should have read the "right wing" version of the news or something.

AUGH!

SNL's take on the Vice-Presidential debate

This is just gold. Absolutely gold.

Tina Fey's Palin refusal to answer the question and when answering, always filling them up with non-sequiturs like "Maverick". Queen Latifah's Iffil surrendering her probing questions "to not appear biased towards Obama". And Jason Sudeikis' playing Biden as a contained lunatic was just full of win. This is a flawless skit.

Words to live by

What does this white supremacy mean in day-to-day life? One recent study found that in the United States, a black applicant with no criminal record is less likely to receive a callback from a potential employer than a white applicant with a felony conviction. In other words, being black is more of a liability in finding a job than being a convicted criminal. Into this new century, such discrimination has remained constant.

That's white supremacy. Many people, of all races, feel and express prejudice, but white supremacy is built into the attitudes, practices and institutions of the dominant white society. It's not the product simply of individual failure but is woven into society, and the material consequences of it are dramatic.
