The New Agenda's agenda : PUMA Kim Gandy and NOW

Why would anybody call Kim Gandy and especially NOW a sell-out to the feminist movement. Oh right, this is the same Kim Gandy and somewhat same NOW (as in NOW-PAC) which decided to do the incredibly rare presidential candidate endorsement and go for Obama-Biden instead of McCain-Palin.

The New Agenda may have a seemingly level-headed and non-partisan spokesperson in Amy Siskind --who seems to get way more air-time on FOXNEws, CNN, MSNBC and prime-time news shows as the go-to feminist than all the executive directors of Planned Parenthood, NOW and NARAL combined. The truth is, "The New Agenda" wants feminists to endorse ANY WOMEN CANDIDATES even if they push anti-women government policies like Sarah Palin. If not, they're called traitors and smeared first in the blogosphere and, mark my words, later on mainstream media.

That's why they're trying to derail Kim Gandy's candidacy as Director of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Women’s Bureau. Here's the email Amy Siskind sent out to her bloggers so they could get ready on the offensive :

Planned Parenthood to Sarah Palin: You are NOT our Candidate

Planned Parenthood has sent out an email specifically outlining why Sarah Palin is NOT the choice for women. Here is the text:

Dear Sarah Palin,

You are not our candidate.

You are not our candidate because you required women in Wasilla to pay for their own medical examinations after being raped.

You are not our candidate because you do not support a woman's right to choose, even in the case of rape or incest.

You are not our candidate because you've cut funding for teen moms and comprehensive sex education, while promoting failed abstinence-only programs.

You are not our candidate because, as vice president — a heartbeat away from the presidency — you would jeopardize health care for women everywhere.

We are teachers, doctors, athletes, programmers, artists, lawyers, secretaries, CEOs, students, designers, nurses, factory workers, mothers, and fathers. We are conservatives and liberals, Democrats and Republicans, country and city people. We are women and men. We are voters. We are the Planned Parenthood Action Fund.

We believe in a woman's right to choose and the right of every person to have access to complete reproductive health care. We are hundreds of thousands strong, and we are doing everything we can to make sure you are not elected.

You are not our candidate.

Showdown in Illinois: Mark Pera for Congress

Next to the Democratic Primary, the most exciting and important race of Super Tuesday is the IL-3 Democratic Primary. Our readers in Chicago and Cook County have a very real choice in this Congressional primary. This race pits an anti-choice, pro-Bush incumbent, Dan Lipinski, against a grassroots progressive challenger, Mark Pera.

Dan Lipinski has been a consistent opponent of a woman's right to choose, a consistent opponent of life-saving stem cell research, and a consistent supporter of Bush's Iraq quagmire. He votes more in line with Bush's agenda than practically any Democrat in the House. In fact, he has voted with Bush 50% of the time!

By contrast, Mark Pera is a true Democrat. He has been endorsed by the National Organization of Women, the Jewish Political Alliance of Illinois, United Muslims and Arabs for a Better America, NARAL Pro-Choice America, Citizens Action/Illinois, Democracy for America (DFA), Mexicanos for Political Progress, Planned Parenthood, United Citizens for a Better America, and Democratic Leadership for the 21st Century as well as a whole slew of local politicians. For Americans who want change, THIS race is critical.

Here is Mark Pera speaking about special interests:

QUOTES

"I hold that in this country there must be complete severance of Church and State; that public moneys shall not be used for the purpose of advancing any particular creed; and therefore that the public schools shall be nonsectarian and no public moneys appropriated for sectarian schools."
